Magnifier for Seniors + Light
The short version
Magnifier for Seniors + Light is a magnifying glass. It does not ask who you are.
- We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or age.
- You do not create an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
- The camera is used to show you a magnified live picture on your screen. That picture is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
- If you tap Take Picture, the photo is saved on your own phone. We never receive it.
- The app shows advertisements, and the company that supplies them collects some technical information about your device. That is explained in full below.
The rest of this page sets out the same information in the detail that data protection law requires.
1. Who we are
This app is developed and published by AB Properties ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how the Android application Magnifier for Seniors + Light (the "app") handles information.
If you have any question about this policy, write to us at abbasbawazirab786@gmail.com. We read every message.
2. Information we do not collect
We want to be direct about this, because a magnifier has no reason to know anything about you. We do not collect, ask for, store or transmit:
- Your name, email address, postal address or telephone number
- Your date of birth or age
- Account credentials of any kind — the app has no sign-in
- Your contacts, calendar, call log, text messages or files
- Your precise location or GPS coordinates
- Photographs or video from your camera
- Health, medical or financial information
We operate no servers that receive information from this app, and we hold no database of users.
3. The camera
The app needs access to your device camera. That is the only way a phone can work as a magnifying glass: the camera reads what is in front of it and the screen shows it to you enlarged.
This happens live, on your device, as you hold the phone. The image passes from the camera to the screen and is then gone. It is not recorded, not written to a file, not uploaded, and not seen by us or by anyone else.
Android will ask your permission the first time you open the app. If you decline, the app cannot magnify anything, so the main screen will not work. You can grant or withdraw this permission at any time in your phone's Settings, under Apps.
4. Photos you choose to save
Tapping Take Picture freezes the magnified image so you can study it, and saves a copy to your device.
- The photo is written to your phone's own storage or gallery.
- It stays on your phone. It is not backed up to us, and we have no way to see it.
- You can view, share or delete it yourself using your normal gallery app.
- If you uninstall the app, photos you saved remain in your gallery unless you delete them.
Whether an additional storage permission is requested depends on your version of Android. Newer versions allow the app to save a photo it created without asking for access to the rest of your gallery, and we do not request access to your other photos.
5. The flashlight
The Light button switches on your device's camera flash so you can read in a dark room or a dimly lit restaurant. It is controlled entirely by you, it collects no information, and it switches off when you leave the app.
6. Settings stored on your device
The app remembers your preferences — the zoom level, the brightness, the contrast filter and which reading mode you last used — so it opens the way you left it. These settings are saved in the app's private storage on your own phone. They are not transmitted anywhere, and they are erased when you uninstall the app.
7. Advertising
The app is free, and advertising is what pays for it. Advertisements are supplied by Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC.
To serve and measure advertisements, Google may collect and process certain technical information from your device. We do not receive this information, and we cannot connect it to you as a person. It typically includes:
- Your Android advertising identifier, a resettable ID that your device provides for advertising purposes
- Your IP address, from which an approximate, city-level location may be derived
- Device information such as model, operating system version and language
- Whether an advertisement was shown, viewed or tapped
Google uses this to select advertisements, to limit how often you see the same one, and to detect fraudulent clicks. How Google handles this data is set out in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Your choices about advertising
- Reset or delete your advertising ID. Open your phone's Settings, then Google, then Ads. There you can reset the identifier, or delete it entirely so that advertisements are no longer personalised.
- Opt out of personalised advertising. The same Settings screen has a switch to turn off ad personalisation. You will still see advertisements, but they will not be based on your interests.
- If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app will ask for your consent before any personalised advertising is shown, using a consent form provided by Google. You may refuse, and you may change your answer later from within the app.
8. Analytics and crash reporting
The app uses Google Firebase to understand how it is used and to be told when it crashes. This tells us things like which reading modes are opened most often and on which device models the app fails, so that we can fix problems.
This information describes the app and the device, not you. It includes a randomly generated installation identifier, the device model and operating system version, the app version, approximate country, and records of crashes. It does not include your name, your email address, the images you magnify or the photos you save. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.
9. Permissions the app requests, and why
| Permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To show a live magnified image on the screen. This is the core function of the app. Nothing is recorded. |
| Flashlight / camera flash | To light up what you are reading when the room is dark. |
| Storage or media access | Only to save a magnified photo when you tap Take Picture. We do not read your existing photos. |
| Internet and network state | To download advertisements and to check whether you are online before requesting them. |
| Advertising ID | Used by Google AdMob to select advertisements and to limit repeats. |
We do not request access to your location, microphone, contacts, calendar, call log or messages, and the app has no feature that would use them.
10. How long information is kept
We keep nothing, because we receive nothing. Settings and saved photos live on your own device and are under your control. Information collected by Google for advertising is kept according to Google's own retention schedules, which are described in the Google Privacy Policy linked above.
11. Children
This app is designed for adults, particularly older adults and people with reduced vision. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, please contact us and we will act on it.
12. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to personal data about you: the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object to processing, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.
Because we do not collect or hold personal data ourselves, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve, correct or delete. Where advertising data is concerned, the controller is Google, and requests about that data should be directed to Google. Our legal basis for showing personalised advertising is your consent, which we ask for before any such advertisement is shown and which you may withdraw at any time. Our legal basis for non-personalised advertising and for basic app functionality is our legitimate interest in operating and funding the app.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
13. If you are in California
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not receive any personal information from this app. Sharing of an advertising identifier for the purpose of personalised advertising may be treated as "sharing" under that law; you can prevent it at any time by turning off ad personalisation in your device settings, as described in section 7. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
14. International transfers
Google operates globally, so information it collects for advertising may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Google applies its own safeguards for these transfers, which are described in the Google Privacy Policy.
15. Security
The strongest protection we can offer is not collecting your information in the first place, and that is the approach we have taken. Information that stays on your phone is protected by your device's own security — your screen lock and Android's storage protections. Network requests made by the app for advertisements use encrypted connections.
16. Links to other services
Tapping an advertisement may take you to a website or an app store page that we do not operate. This policy does not cover those destinations, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Please read their own policies before providing information to them.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes or when the law requires it. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be noted in the app's update description on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
